I first discovered Mitch Anthony when I read his book The New Retirementality and I immediately realised that I had found someone who shares my passion and philosophy around holistic life planning.

I was so intrigued by Mitch that I flew to the States with John Campbell and Barclay Hoar, especially to meet him. We spent time personally training and learning from Mitch and have since become great friends.

My time with Mitch has set the tone for much of who I am, what I do and what I have learnt. For us, financial planning was not just about the client’s money anymore, but about the client and the life that the client wants to live. We returned to South Africa with eight books that Mitch had written and a world of knowledge, ready to re-think financial planning at Chartered Wealth Solutions. We now initiate our processes with a life-planning meeting as a pre-cursor to financial planning, giving each client a tailor-made life plan.

Recognising that I brought something different to the business, something that makes our offering distinctive, Barclay and John offered me a shareholding in the company (2008) and I was soon working full time doing what I was meant to do.

I now understood what it means to be alive, and what it means to live a happy life.

Mitch Anthony supports a client-centered approach to financial planning and shows financial professionals how financial issues can be planned around a life plan. He believes that clients are seeking more than just returns on their investments, they require assistance in funding their lifestyle in a fulfilling and satisfactory way.
