Midlife Money Makeover

R198.00

It is never too late for a makeover, and midlife is the perfect opportunity to redesign your life exactly as you want it. You do have choices for every aspect of your life – including your money. Especially your money. This book is a call to action to take control of both your life and your money.

Midlife Money Makeover will prepare you for your transition into elderhood and will guide you in an easy-to-follow process to pause, tune in and consciously create your next chapter – enabled by your money.

A purposeful midlife makeover is intentional. To be intentional in midlife is to clarify for yourself what you want your life to look like? What do you still want to achieve? And how will your money enable the life you want?

Now is the time to make changes, to design a life with balance, fulfilment and joy. You do not want to leave your next chapter to chance or carry on doing what does not fulfil you. You do not want you to look back in years to come thinking ‘if only.’

Filled with inspirational stories, practical tools and helpful reflections, this book will show how to become an empowered, modern elder.

“This week I’ve been thinking a lot about money. It was after I finished reading Midlife Money Makeover by Kim Potgieter. What I lurrrrrve about this book is that she talks a lot about the psychological aspect of money. One part that stayed with me is what she calls your money story – the stuff you tell yourself about money.”

Kim also says: “What you believe will come true because you will live it.”

“How you see things will show up in your choices and behaviour and the results.” I LOVE this and I have found this to be true in my own life. Remember when I said I was feeling old, and like a has-been? Well, guess what? I started acting like it and apologizing for my age and that’s how peeps started treating me. It became self-fulfilling. And this idea of retiring? I can’t stand it because I adore working. According to Kim: “Retirement is defunct – you can work and add value for as long as you want…” Yeah, baby!! We don’t have to retire, we can carry on working until we drop dead which might sound horrible to other people but sounds perfect to me. I NEVER want to stop working. I want to be writing until I pop off to that big fat book launch in the sky.”

“There is so much more to discuss about money; becoming a mentern (mentor-intern), having a vision board, planning your dream life, talking about shame and blame…get the book, I can’t recommend it enough and have now given it to the husband to read.”

‘Midlife Money Makeover’ is as the title says, about financial planning in midlife. But it’s also so much more. It is about finding out who you are and what makes you tick, about your values and living life intentionally and meaningfully. Planning your finances is then about empowering yourself financially to live that life. It’s about understanding that money is a tool to give yourself the freedom and choices to live meaningfully. And it’s backed by solid tips and advice on how to be money savvy and make sure you do the planning and work to secure your future into retirement and beyond. Very useful and enlightening reading.

Thank you Kim, you have made a phenomenal contribution to our thinking about money in our family.

In her latest book ,“Midlife Money Makeover”, Kim Potgieter draws on her own experiences and those of her many clients to deliver a cohesive, easy-to-read manual on how to deal with both life and finances. I was thoroughly absorbed by the book, even though I would have to live to 140 if I am only halfway through my life.

It was a relevant reminder of the path my wife and I set out on some years ago with Kim and all the workshopping we subsequently did to map out the next stage of our lives. All the various ideas and dreams are falling into place and some have become irrelevant. All this requires constant monitoring and updating. Being well prepared for our future has made the COVID-19 event so much easier to work through. During this time, we successfully sold our big house and have made a move into a lifestyle estate.

I am investigating mentoring people starting their own businesses and dealing with the daily challenges and reinventions. A path has opened up to do this and despite being a little afraid of the idea, Kim’s book has given me many pointers as to how to set about this task. I think her programme can be used whenever a big change is made and would recommend her book to anyone starting out on a new adventure.

“Thanks for the opportunity. I feel a little overwhelmed, actually. The text really spoke to me and it has been a privilege to benefit from all these insights at such an important time with all the surprises life is throwing at us … Huge vote of confidence!”

“A money makeover and a life reboot can happen at any age. This book showed me, as my own life has, that nothing important happens by chance. You have to nudge and push your life in the direction you want it to go. Your agency is your biggest weapon.”

“What’s curious is how few of us accurately estimate how much of our adult life is still ahead of us. I was 57 years old when I discovered on a customised longevity app that I was possibly going to live to 98…. Three years later, partly due to the guidance of Kim’s writing, I feel so much better equipped to live a life that is as deep, rich, and meaningful as it is long.”
