Change brings opportunity, and more often than not, change brings about change. But it is up to you to adjust, transform and convert from where you are, to where you want to be.

What if this is a time for change? What if this is exactly the opportunity to renew and refresh? To take a chance on you!

It’s no secret that even in midlife, I am still the biggest Abba fan! And just lately, I find myself humming this song more regularly.

If you change your mind
I’m the first in line
Honey, I’m still free
Take a chance on me …

I love that we can change our minds, take a chance on life, even when we’re feeling down. And that we can go dancing, or walking, listen to music, or just sit down talking. And I love that I am having these conversations with my clients. Clients who are ready for change, who are editing their midlives and starting to create a life of their own design.

In a recent blog, Chip Conley reminded me about the book that Jonathan Rauch wrote in 2018, called The Happiness Curve: Why Life Gets Better After 50. Rauch says that happiness flows in a U-shape, falling in our 20s to 30s and hitting an all-time low in our 40s. Life satisfaction then starts to increase until our 80s. “Age tends to work in favour of happiness,” he says.

I do believe that editing your life for meaning, purpose and joy, is about more than age. Yes, with age comes wisdom. We are less inclined to compare ourselves with others and more open to tapping into our gratitude, our values and what’s important to us. But for change to happen, you need to want to change.

And in many ways, this, here and now, is the perfect time for change. We are in a time of reflection, and perhaps a greater consciousness of who we are, who we want to be and how we see our place in the world.

There is no better time than now to start creating new and purposeful lives for ourselves. And with this, other things will change too. I believe that more people will start putting money in its rightful place – as an enabler – and stop attaching the wrong meaning to money. Money will never buy you happiness or create a better version of you and your life, no matter what you spend. Pure joy and happiness are linked to purpose and meaning. I also believe that people will start allocating their money with intent, to bring about the purpose and meaning that they want for themselves.

So, if you’re ready to change your mind – take a chance on you! Live intentionally, in the present and don’t hold off your happiness for another day.
