Coming to you in April 2021

An unexpected event is often a catalyst for change. Something like Covid-19. Or something like a death, illness, a sudden retrenchment or retirement. I have seen my fair share of life-changing transitions working in the retirement sector and have always loved the wisdom, resilience and zest for life that I see in my clients daily.

I have noticed a shift in my clients during the last couple of years. My clients were getting younger and more and more midlifers were coming to see me. They wanted change, not because they were retiring or had to change, not because their money situation has changed, but because they yearned for change. They wanted their lives to mean something, to create balance, fulfilment and joy. Not when they retire, but now.

This book was inspired by my younger and elder clients, and I am so grateful to them for sharing their wisdom and sage truths as they transition into a life that is rich with possibilities and meaning.

Midlife Money Makeover will prepare you for your transition into elderhood. I do not want you to leave your next chapter to chance or carry on doing what does not fulfil you. I do not want you to look back in years to come thinking ‘if only.’

I want you to enter into your next phase, complete with years of accumulated wisdom, and live without compromise. Purposeful and intentional.

To be intentional in midlife is to clarify for yourself what you want your life to look like? What do you still want to achieve? And how will your money enable the life you want?

It is time for an purposeful makeover. In this book, I am asking you to throw out old and tired tunes that no longer serve you, we’ll be rehashing the melodies that still inspire you, and we’ll create a new recording that you’ll want to dance to for the next half-century.

Midlife Money Makeover will take you through a step-by-step system to identify your money habits, and show you how to reconnect with yourself, your life and your money. The final step is a makeover where you get to create a life that you’re excited to live – enabled by your money.

First, we pause

Pausing means taking stock of your life and then visualise what your life would look like if it turned out well. What would a purposeful and fulfilling life from midlife onwards look like?

We tune in

One we have shut out the chatter, it is time to listen to the money soundtrack that may have been playing on repeat – our entire life. I have found that your relationship with money is often the biggest stumbling block to creating a healthy balance sheet where you are the one in charge, instead of being a servant to money.

Then we edit

I believe that everyone should have a plan for their lives and a plan for their money – one with clear goals, objectives and action items. Editing means putting these plans in place, and I will show you how to makeover your midlife so that you can take charge of your life and your money.

Finally, we press play

Playing to a new tune means putting habits in place to support your vision. I love the word ‘play’ because it captures the enjoyment I want you to have in your second chapter. It should be fun!

The book is full of client stories, real people I have worked with, who have valuable lessons to share. Some of these stories will resonate with you, others will inspire you, and others may show you what you don’t want in your next chapter.

I hope that you will enjoy reading this book as much as I loved writing it.

Always remember, when it comes to your money, I want you to be inspired, brave and on purpose.
