Kim’s advice to Lily Mason

What would bring more meaning to your life?
People at any age need to look at living significantly, not just successfully. Younger clients often do things that don’t inspire them or would ideally like to make changes to their lives now, for example, who they are with, where they live, what they do etc. In midlife, people start looking at ways to live wholeheartedly and engage with the world from a place of worthiness.
It starts with dreaming and visualising by asking yourself: what would my next chapter look like if it turned out well? And then putting careful and deliberate action plans in place to make this happen.
A good starting point is to find out what you really value; what gives you meaning, and what would give you a greater purpose. This information is already inside you – you just need to take time to sit quietly and listen to your inner voice.
Then, build a parallel life to start the process. Normally, I would advise clients still working to start the dreaming and planning process while still earning, and then slowly integrate their new goals over a period. It could be rekindling a hobby you don’t need to earn money from just yet or starting your own venture part-time or weekends. Building different income streams can benefit you in the long run at any age.
Lily needs to plan what her next chapter will look like and decide what will she be and do. Where is she going TO? Lily can, fortunately, take time to pause and reflect on what will bring her meaning and find a new purpose. She may try out different things, or a few things at once, creating many parallels in her life. But eventually, Lily will evolve into a new Lily – one who uses the wisdom of her previous chapter to transition into doing things in her own time and on her own terms.
